Andrew J. Horvath III, Master Chief Petty Officer, Retired, age 72, of Selbyville died Saturday, July 14, 2012 at his home with his family and Hospice. He was born in Warren, OH on July 13, 1940 and was the son of the late Andrew J. Jr. and Mary (Plevyak) Horvath.
Andy was a 20 year veteran of the United States Coast Guard, retiring in San Francisco in 1978. After leaving the Coast Guard, he was a supervisor for the Ocean City Transportation Department for 19 years, retiring again in 1997. He enjoyed sports, especially watching his favorite team the Cleveland Browns on TV and fishing. He also enjoyed spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Donna Loughrey Horvath of Selbyville, whom he married in 1959; two sons, Craig Horvath and his wife Susan and Jeffrey Horvath both of Selbyville and three brothers, James Horvath of St. George, UT, Jerry Horvath and Ronald Horvath both of Warren, OH.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, James Horvath in 1974.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 20 at 11:30 a.m. at Salem United Methodist Church in Selbyville with Rev. Dr. James Van Der Wall officiating. Friends may call at the church from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and burial will be in Delaware Veterans Cemetery in Millsboro.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions may be made to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
